Mark Crutcher grew up in Ukiah, Ca and at an early age, developed a great passion for fishing. Mark started out fishing with his father and grandpa in local ponds and streams. After some great trips, and a few explosive topwater bites, Mark realized bass fishing is what he loved the most!
Mark joined the local bass club while in high school. After several years he won the “Angler of the Year” title and soon began entering team tournaments and Pro-Ams.
Mark joined the Highway Patrol in 1997 and was transferred to South Los Angeles. He worked there for two years and then transferred to beautiful Clear Lake.
Mark fishes several team circuits each year and competes in numerous pro-ams, including FLW and Bassmaster. Mark has won 4 boats in competition. Mark pro-am victories were on Clear Lake, Lake Shasta, and the California Delta.
Mark has also won over 20 team tournament and 5 “Angler of the Year” titles.
His most memorable tournament came in March of 2007 when he and his team partner Greg McCosker won the Clear Lake Vanity Cup. Over two days, the team weighed in over 72 lbs. of bass. On the second day, they weighed in over 40 lbs. of bass for 5 fish. They targeted these fish using swimbaits.
Mark’s favorite fishing technique is throwing swimbaits for big bass. Mark’s go-to bait is a 6 “ Baitsmith swimbait in the blue ghost pattern. His ideal conditions for throwing this bait are overcast conditions with a little wind. Mark prefers Baitsmith because of there awesome colors and their attention to detail when making their baits.
Mark’s goals are to have as much fun on the water as possible and to promote the sport of bass fishing. Mark has been featured on the World Fishing Network with Jarrett Edwards Outdoors TV show, Clear Lake, 2009. Mark is also an I-Cast Sport Show instructor and tank promoter.
Mark also enjoys spending time with his family, archery hunting, and upland game bird hunting. Mark’s sponsors include Baitsmith, Tackle-It, Powell Rods, and Snagproof. |
